MARA Holdings Snags $600M Texas Site for Bitcoin Mining and AI Compute
MARA Holdings has agreed to buy a 1,200-acre powered site in Texas for up to $600 million. The deal targets two gigawatts of grid capacity for Bitcoin mining and AI compute. MARA plans to build a computing campus on the property with a potential expansion to two gigawatts by mid-2028.
The transaction is structured as installments tied to development milestones, including regulatory approvals and completion of land acquisition. The site has already received interest from potential high-performance computing tenants, though no lease agreements have been publicly disclosed.
MARA's partnership with Starwood Digital Ventures will see the latter responsible for design, construction, and tenant sourcing, while MARA contributes powered land and energy infrastructure.
