Mara Holdings Unloads $1.63 Billion Worth of Bitcoin Amid Shift to AI Data Centres

Mara Holdings, a major Bitcoin mining company, has sold $1.63 billion worth of BTC in the first half of 2026.

The sale accounted for about 34 percent of Mara's total holdings at the end of 2025, which stood at 53,822 BTC.

Mara's remaining Bitcoin holdings now amount to 35,577 BTC as of June 30, down from its previous ranking as the second-largest corporate holder of BTC.

The company has been shifting its focus towards AI data centres and high-performance computing infrastructure, a move that was confirmed by its recent partnership with Starwood Capital Group.
