MARA Offers Slipstream Haven for Coldcard Users Amid Hackers' Rampage
The MARA Foundation has opened its Slipstream service to the public, allowing anyone to send Bitcoin transactions directly to its mining pool without broadcasting them on the public network. This comes as thousands of Bitcoin holders are racing to move funds off a flawed Coldcard hardware wallet.
In March 2021, a firmware coding error in Coldcard models resulted in a weaker software process for generating seed phrases, leaving users vulnerable to hackers. The flaw has been linked to around $88 million being drained from approximately 500 wallets.
MARA's Slipstream service was first launched on February 22, 2024, but access previously required a client code. Now, with no signup code needed, users can send transactions directly to MARA, which will then mine them into a block without exposing the keys or spending details publicly.
