Mara Unloads 23k BTC for $1.63B Amid Revenue Woes
MARA Holdings has been busy shedding its Bitcoin stash in the first half of 2026. According to a recent Form 10-Q filing, the company sold approximately 23,093 BTC for $1.63 billion between January and June.
This sale represents nearly 34% of MARA's Bitcoin treasury at the end of last year. At that time, the company held 53,822 BTC, making it the second-largest Bitcoin holder. After the sale, MARA now holds 35,577 BTC, ranking it behind Strategy and Twenty One Capital.
MARA has been using the proceeds from these sales to fund operations, growth opportunities, and manage liquidity. The company has been struggling with revenue losses due to the decline in Bitcoin's price. In Q1, revenue dropped by 18% year-over-year to $174.6 million, while in Q2 it fell by 27% to $174.9 million.
