Marathon Sells 726 Bitcoin Amid Crypto Bear Market
Marathon Holdings, a US Bitcoin miner, has made significant adjustments to its cryptocurrency holdings. The company recently sold 726 Bitcoin, reducing its total holdings to approximately 35,577 units.
This sale marks a substantial decrease in Marathon's Bitcoin reserves, which now ranks the company fourth among publicly traded companies worldwide by Bitcoin holdings.
The decision to sell a portion of its Bitcoin stash comes as the crypto bear market continues to weigh on results. In the second quarter of this year, Marathon reported a net loss of $610 million, with falling Bitcoin prices and a restructuring of its power portfolio and capital structure cited as main factors behind its financial performance.
Marathon's Chief Financial Officer, Salman Khan, highlighted that 'two factors drove the company's second-quarter results: falling Bitcoin prices and a restructuring of its power portfolio and capital structure.'
