Mark Zuckerberg Deepfake Videos Scam Investors with Fake Water Supply Claims

A wave of deepfake videos has been circulating online, purporting to show Mark Zuckerberg stating that humanity's water supply will be depleted within a year. However, investigations by The Journal have revealed these videos to be AI-generated fakes.

The videos, which feature Zuckerberg speaking at a meeting with US President Donald Trump and other tech leaders in 2025, are nearly identical to real footage from the event. However, the audio has been manipulated to make it appear as though Zuckerberg is saying that water will run out within a year and that Meta will be allocating $200 billion to support the World Water Reserve.

But this is not what actually happened at the meeting. A transcript of the event shows that the term 'water' was never mentioned, and the real discussion centered around other topics. If Zuckerberg's comments were accurate, humanity would have already run out of water due to the meeting taking place in 2025.

The deceptive depiction of Zuckerberg is part of a larger trend of using deepfake videos to promote cryptocurrencies. Multiple variations of these fake videos have been posted to Facebook and Instagram since August, accumulating thousands of views.
