Mastercard Backs XRP Ledger Hackathon as AI Payments Take Center Stage
Mastercard has joined forces with XRPL Commons to sponsor an upcoming hackathon focused on developing innovative applications for the XRP Ledger. The event, which will take place in New York on October 24-25, 2026, is designed to bring together developers, investors, and financial industry leaders to explore the future of blockchain-based finance.
The hackathon will feature four tracks: Protocol Innovation, Agentic Finance, Lending & Borrowing, and Why Not. The latter track gives developers room to pursue ideas that fall outside the other categories.
Mastercard's involvement is significant, given the company's growing interest in blockchain and stablecoin infrastructure. XRPL Commons has previously pointed to Mastercard's exploration of RLUSD settlement on XRPL through its program with Gemini.
