Mastercard Bolsters XRP Ecosystem Amidst ETF Demand and Market Volatility
Mastercard's expanding presence in the XRP Ledger ecosystem has been noted as the payments company joins the upcoming XRP Ledger Hackathon in New York as a sponsor. This event is scheduled for October 24-25, immediately before Ripple's Swell conference, and will focus on areas such as protocol development, agentic finance, and lending.
The sponsorship is significant because Mastercard's involvement with Ripple-linked infrastructure extends beyond developer events. In June, the company stated it would broaden its settlement capabilities to regulated stablecoins, including Ripple USD (RLUSD), across several networks including the XRP Ledger.
XRP has given back some of its August rally gains as the broader crypto market experiences a pullback. The token traded around $1.38-$1.39 on August 29, after slipping below the $1.40 level. Historical trading data show that XRP reached as high as $1.70 on August 22 before momentum weakened.
ETF demand remains a key support for XRP, with U.S. spot XRP ETFs recently recording their strongest week in over three months. Cumulative net inflows reached approximately $1.55 billion, with funds attracting $39.78 million during that week.
