Mastercard Brings Hackathon to NYC for XRP Ledger Development
Mastercard is set to host a 36-hour hackathon in New York on October 24-25, focusing on developing blockchain applications using the XRP Ledger. The event, sponsored by Mastercard, will allow participants to build financial solutions ahead of the Swell conference organized by Ripple. This hackathon marks an important step for Mastercard's presence in the developer community and its expansion into blockchain-based financial infrastructure.
During the hackathon, developers can participate on four tracks: protocol innovation, agentic finance, lending and borrowing, and open category. The protocol track will involve developing network amendments, client implementations, and developer tools. Other participants may build financial applications and integrate Mastercard XRP Ledger technology into existing projects.
This initiative is significant as it connects a major payments company with developers exploring blockchain-based financial infrastructure. However, XRPL Commons did not reveal any information about financial support for the hackathon provided by Mastercard or the judging process.
