Mastercard Cements Crypto Footprint with Completed BVNK Acquisition

Share

Mastercard has finalized its purchase of crypto infrastructure platform BVNK, an acquisition that was first announced in March for $1.8 billion. The deal aims to enhance interoperability between fiat and digital currencies, enabling Mastercard to offer more choice in how people and businesses exchange value.

According to Mastercard's chief product officer, Jorn Lambert, 'Digital currencies, particularly stablecoins, are increasingly addressing real-world needs in areas like cross-border B2B payments, remittances, payouts, settlement and treasury flows.'

The acquisition combines Mastercard's global network with BVNK's on-chain infrastructure and stablecoin-native technology to deliver a more efficient, trusted, and seamless payment experience.
