Mastercard Joins Forces with XRPL Commons for Blockchain Hackathon
Mastercard is joining forces with XRPL Commons to host a 36-hour hackathon in New York, scheduled for October 24-25, 2026. The event will bring together developers, investors, institutions, and financial leaders to build new blockchain finance applications on the XRP Ledger.
The hackathon's four tracks focus on emerging technologies, including AI payments, stablecoins, tokenized assets, and on-chain lending. Mastercard's presence is notable, as it has previously explored RLUSD settlement on XRPL through a program with Gemini.
Developers will compete across Protocol Innovation, Agentic Finance, Lending & Borrowing, and Why Not tracks, pushing the limits of XRP Ledger core technology and exploring unconventional applications. The event's timing coincides with Ripple's Swell conference, which could create a bridge between experimental XRPL projects and the established payments industry.
