Mastercard has partnered with stablecoin infrastructure network Borderless.xyz to explore how its Crypto Credential framework can support trusted interactions in cross-border stablecoin payments.

The collaboration will examine how Mastercard's standards-based framework can provide 'assurance signals' that participants can integrate into their approval, compliance, and risk processes.

'Stablecoins are increasingly being used to move value across borders, creating new opportunities for faster and more efficient payments,' a statement from the release said. 'As adoption grows, participants need trusted ways to understand who they are interacting with and whether counterparties have met appropriate standards and requirements.'

Borderless.xyz Co-Founder and CEO Kevin Lehtiniitty noted that 'compliance doesn't scale the same way the network does' for stablecoin payment operators.

The project brings together many of Borderless.xyz's network participant companies, including some that graduated from Mastercard's startup engagement program, Start Path.
