Mastercard Sponsors XRP Ledger Hackathon Ahead of Ripple's Swell Conference

Mastercard is set to sponsor a 36-hour XRP Ledger hackathon in New York on October 24-25. The event will cover various aspects of the blockchain, including protocol development, agentic finance, lending and borrowing, and projects adding features to the XRP Ledger.

The hackathon will bring developers together just before Ripple's Swell conference. XRPL Commons has confirmed Mastercard's sponsorship but declined to disclose the financial contribution or any involvement in the judging process.

It is worth noting that this sponsorship does not confirm a new Mastercard product or deployment of the XRP Ledger. However, Mastercard plans to support regulated stablecoin settlement across eight blockchain networks, including the XRP Ledger.

Additionally, the company has collaborated with Ripple, WebBank, and Gemini on exploring RLUSD settlement for Gemini credit card transactions.
