Mastercard Sponsors XRP Ledger Hackathon in NYC

Mastercard is sponsoring a 36-hour XRP Ledger hackathon in New York on October 24-25. The event, organized by XRPL Commons, will bring together developers to build and launch applications before Ripple's Swell conference.

The hackathon will feature four tracks: protocol innovation, agentic finance, lending and borrowing, and an open category for other projects. Mastercard's sponsorship is seen as a significant development in the company's involvement with XRP Ledger technology.

Interestingly, Mastercard has already announced its plan to support regulated stablecoin settlement on eight blockchain networks, including XRP Ledger. The move is part of the company's expansion to provide more choice for issuers and acquirers in how and when they settle transactions.
