Mastercard has announced a pilot program in collaboration with Borderless.xyz to address inefficiencies in verification processes for transactions between disparate providers. The initiative, dubbed Mastercard's Trust Layer, aims to introduce a standardized trust layer by deploying Mastercard's Crypto Credential framework across the Borderless.xyz network.

The current process of redundant verification fails to scale alongside the underlying network infrastructure, resulting in bottlenecks that could decide who wins in stablecoin payments. By deploying Crypto Credential across the Borderless.xyz network, Mastercard is betting it's over who controls verification at scale.
