Matrimonial Scammer Lures Bengaluru Man into Cryptocurrency Losses
A Bengaluru man lost lakhs of rupees after falling victim to a cryptocurrency scam. The scammer, who posed as Niharika Chowdary Mandava on a matrimonial website, gained his trust and convinced him to invest in two suspect platforms: mivonexchg.com and binzoex.com.
The victim had contacted the scammer through a popular matrimonial platform on October 27, 2025. She introduced herself as a UK resident from Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, claiming to work for a logistics company. The scammer then contacted him via multiple WhatsApp numbers and gradually gained his confidence.
The victim was convinced to invest in USDT (Tether) through exchanges including Binance, ZebPay, and Mudrex. He transferred funds to his Trust Wallet and later moved approximately 30,000 USDT to cryptocurrency wallet addresses provided during the transactions.
When he tried to withdraw his investment, the victim was asked to pay additional taxes and charges. Despite making payments as instructed, he was unable to withdraw the funds. Further investigations are underway after a case was registered at the Whitefield cyber crime police station on August 3.
