McLaren Racing Partners with Hedera for Fast-Track Digital Collectibles
McLaren Racing has partnered with Hedera Foundation (HBAR) in a multi-year deal that makes Hedera an official sponsor of both its Formula 1 and IndyCar teams. As part of the agreement, digital collectibles will be released during F1 Grand Prix weekends, and Arrow McLaren IndyCar collectibles will return for the 2026 season.
Hedera branding will appear on McLaren F1 cars, driver race suits, and IndyCar team vehicles. The partnership aims to make digital collectibles accessible to fans without cryptocurrency knowledge, as users won't need to hold HBAR tokens or manage blockchain wallets.
The choice of Hedera was due to its distributed ledger using hashgraph consensus, which processes transactions in seconds with predictable low fees. This differs from traditional blockchain architecture used by alternatives like Ethereum or Solana.
