MegaETH: The Real-Time Ethereum Layer 2 Network
MegaETH is an Ethereum Layer 2 network designed for real-time speed, aiming to confirm transactions in a fraction of a second rather than several seconds. Unlike other Layer 2 networks that focus on cost reduction, MegaETH prioritizes ultra-low latency and specialized node roles.
Its architecture separates tasks into different roles: sequencer nodes order and execute transactions at high speed, prover nodes handle proof work, and full nodes verify results. This design allows for real-time responsiveness, making interactions feel closer to a normal web application than traditional blockchain networks.
MegaETH is built by MegaETH Labs, backed by notable investors including Dragonfly Capital and Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin. The project has demonstrated its performance capabilities in a public stress test, processing 11 billion transactions across 7 days and achieving throughput measured in gigagas per second.
