MegaETH Unveils High-Performance Blockchain for Real-Time Transactions

MegaETH is an Ethereum Layer-2 blockchain designed for high-performance transaction processing. It targets block times of around 10 milliseconds and supports over 100,000 transactions per second.

The network's mainnet launched in April 2026, with a total supply of 10 billion MEGA tokens. About 1.1 billion tokens entered circulation at the token generation event (TGE), while around 53.3 percent of the supply is locked until specific performance and ecosystem milestones are reached.

MegaETH uses Ethereum for settlement, EigenDA for data availability, and a hybrid proof system called Kailua, which incorporates RISC Zero Groth16. The native token MEGA is used for ecosystem incentives and tokenomics rather than gas payment.
