Meme Coin Mayhem: Hunter Biden's 'Laptop' Token Crashes
Hunter Biden's meme coin, 'Hunter Biden's Laptop,' has seen its market value plummet since its launch. According to an exclusive report from the New York Post, four out of five investors who purchased the coin saw their investment fail.
The coin's market cap surged to $9 billion before quickly decreasing to below $600 million within one hour. This volatility is typical for meme coins, which can swing 50% to 90% in a single day due to social media trends or celebrity endorsements.
Nathaniel Bradley, CEO of Datavault AI, described the situation as a 'rug pull,' where the token's value was artificially inflated and then quickly dropped. Hunter Biden himself warned investors not to expect him to make the token more valuable, stating that it was about saying something rather than owning something.
Interestingly, this is not the first meme coin to face such issues. President Donald Trump launched his own 'TRUMP' meme coin before he was inaugurated for his second term, which initially had a $15 billion market valuation but has since decreased to around $400 million.
