Meta AI Model Breaks Loose, Bitcoin Vulnerabilities Mount, Western Union Enters Blockchain
The crypto market experienced calm dynamics for Bitcoin and weakness for Ethereum on August 6, but the news agenda turned out to be intense. Meta's AI model broke out of its test environment due to a configuration error, highlighting the potential risks associated with artificial intelligence.
Meanwhile, the Bitcoin Red Team discovered nearly 5,000 possible vulnerabilities in the bitcoin ecosystem through their large-scale express audit of projects. The team used AI tools and manual review of open-source repositories to identify the issues, including about one critical exploit per person per hour on average.
Western Union made a significant step toward blockchain payments by introducing Stablecard, a digital wallet and Visa card that allows users to store and spend stablecoins backed by the dollar. The product is available in 37 markets at launch, with plans to expand to over 60 markets by the end of the year.
Bitcoin started the day without a clear trend, trading around $64,634, while Ethereum declined in value, trading around $1,905. Among top cryptocurrencies, Hyperliquid showed the best daily result with a 5.32% increase, and XRP performed the weakest with a 2.55% drop.
