MetaMask and Consensys Split Exposes Ethereum Adoption and Demand Gaps
MetaMask and Consensys have announced plans to split their operations, giving the consumer wallet and the protocol builder distinct management and investment priorities.
This move has raised questions about how much activity will reach the networks that use ETH, especially considering that MetaMask's Money Account runs on a separate blockchain called Monad.
Under the new structure, the existing Consensys Software Inc. continues as MetaMask, while its protocols and institutional infrastructure operations become a newly formed company carrying the Consensys name.
The separation is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, and users will not need to take any action for their app, assets, keys or access to remain unaffected.
