MetaMask Expands Network Support and Adds Features to Enhance User Experience
MetaMask has evolved significantly since its early days as a simple browser extension. The wallet now supports multiple networks, including Ethereum and several EVM-compatible chains like Polygon, BNB Chain, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, and Optimism.
To set up MetaMask properly, users should download it only from the official website or a verified app store listing. A twelve-word recovery phrase is generated during setup, which is essential for accessing funds if a device gets lost or damaged.
It's crucial to write down this recovery phrase on paper and keep it separate from the password used for daily unlocking. Sharing the recovery phrase with anyone, even support staff, can result in permanent loss of funds.
MetaMask supports native Bitcoin since December 2025 and native Solana since July 2025. The wallet also offers Snap support, which covers ecosystems like NEAR Protocol, Cosmos, Tezos, and Cardano.
