MetaMask Hands AI Agents Wallet Keys
MetaMask has launched Agent Wallet, a self-custodial wallet that allows AI agents to trade crypto on their own. Users can set limits and approve protocols for the agent to interact with, giving them autonomy without complete control. The wallet comes in two modes: 'Guard Mode' which is more restrictive, and 'Beast Mode' which gives the agent more freedom but relies on real-time threat scanning.
The Agent Wallet plugs into existing AI tools and handles gas fees for users, settling fees in whatever token is being moved. Eligible trades are covered by up to $10,000 a month in loss coverage. MetaMask claims this is an infrastructure play for the future of onchain activity, which they believe will be driven more by autonomous software than humans.
Notably, MetaMask isn't the first wallet to offer agentic trading capabilities, but it's the largest player in the market with about a quarter share. The launch comes as Bitcoin ETFs see significant inflows, reaching over $750 million this week alone.
