MetaMask Unleashes Autonomous Trading With Agent Wallet Launch
MetaMask has launched Agent Wallet, a self-custodial wallet that allows AI agents to trade cryptocurrency on their own. The wallet lets users set limits and restrictions for the agent's actions, including capping its spending and allowing it to interact with specific protocols.
The wallet comes in two modes: 'Guard Mode', which requires user approval before making trades outside of pre-approved protocols, and 'Beast Mode', which drops the allowlist and relies on real-time threat scanning for safety.
MetaMask claims that every transaction runs through simulation, threat scanning, and MEV protection, with up to $10,000 in loss coverage per month. The wallet also handles gas fees automatically, settling them in the token being moved.
While MetaMask isn't the first company to offer agentic wallets, Coinbase and MoonPay have similar features, it is the largest player in the market, with a quarter of the wallet market share.
