MetaMask Unveils Agent Wallet for Autonomous AI Agents
MetaMask has launched Agent Wallet, a self-custodial product designed for autonomous AI agents. The wallet allows agents to trade across decentralized finance protocols while their owners retain control over spending limits and approvals.
The wallet runs transactions through security checks, including simulation and threat scanning, to prevent unintended transactions or malicious activities. In the default Guard Mode, owners set spending caps and approve which protocols an agent may interact with, requiring two-factor authentication for any suspicious transaction. A looser Beast Mode lets agents act with more independence.
Roughly 200 users joined an early access program, with wider availability expected later this summer. MetaMask's move follows similar launches from Coinbase and MoonPay, which introduced their own agentic wallets in February and March, respectively. The Agent Wallet also plugs into agent frameworks such as OpenAI's Codex and Anthropic's Claude Code.
