Metaplanet Aims for 210,000 BTC by 2027 in Aggressive Bitcoin Accumulation
Metaplanet is making a bold move in its bid to become one of the largest Bitcoin holders. The Tokyo-listed company has set an ambitious target of holding 210,000 BTC by the end of 2027.
In the second quarter of this year, Metaplanet acquired 2,823 BTC at an average price of $78,608 per coin, bringing its total holdings to 43,000 BTC. This purchase cost the company around $222 million.
The strategy behind Metaplanet's aggressive accumulation of Bitcoin is to create a treasuries model that investors can understand and trust. The company believes that by holding a significant amount of Bitcoin, it can stabilize its share price and provide a clear direction for its investment.
Metaplanet is not the only company taking this approach; Strategy, formerly known as MicroStrategy, has also made Bitcoin the center of its capital-market identity. However, Metaplanet's plan to hold 210,000 BTC by 2027 is more aggressive than Strategy's goals.
