Metaplanet Expands Hong Kong Operations with $1M Bitcoin Unit
Tokyo-listed Metaplanet has expanded its Bitcoin-focused financial services push by launching a new subsidiary in Hong Kong. The company, which is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE: 3350), announced that it will manage $1 million in planned capital through this new entity.
The new subsidiary, named Metaplanet Asset Management Asia Limited, will invest client funds and Metaplanet's own capital across Bitcoin, listed equities, preferred securities, credit products, and other liquid instruments. The operation will be overseen by directors Simon Gerovich, Darren Winia, and Kelvin Lee.
Metaplanet described the subsidiary as an operating platform within its plan to develop financial services tied to Bitcoin, known as Project Nova. This project aims to build securities, asset-management, and capital-markets businesses around its Bitcoin treasury.
