Metaplanet Secures ¥200 Million Through Inaugural BitBonds Placement
Metaplanet Inc., listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange under ticker 3350.T, has successfully raised ¥200 million through its inaugural private BitBond placements. The company's BitBonds program, launched on August 13, allows for continuous issuance of senior unsecured ordinary bonds with varying interest rates and maturities.
The four private bond series completed under Japan's small-number private placement framework carried annual interest rates ranging from approximately 4% to 4.3%, with each series having a maturity of roughly three years. Metaplanet Securities managed the placements through its regulated Japanese securities platform, handling applications, allocations, and administration for future BitBonds.
Metaplanet plans to use BitBonds alongside common shares, preferred shares, and equity-linked instruments as part of its broader capital management framework. The company's Bitcoin holdings remain central to its balance sheet strategy, with 43,000 BTC held as of June 30. However, bondholders receive fixed contractual payments instead of direct exposure to Bitcoin price movements.
