Metaplanet Seeks US-Japan Capital Bridge with $2.3M Super League Raise
Metaplanet is expanding its Bitcoin treasury strategy into the U.S. capital markets through a planned American subsidiary, Super League Enterprise. The company has raised $2.3 million through its first financing as part of this effort. Metaplanet's Managing Director of Bitcoin Strategy, Dylan LeClair, sees an opportunity to use the U.S. platform to access the fixed-income market and create a bridge between Japan and the U.S. capital markets.
The company plans to contribute 2,100 BTC and $2.5 million in cash to Super League as part of the transaction. The Bitcoin contribution was valued at approximately $132 million when the deal was announced. Once completed, Metaplanet will have a second listed vehicle for its Bitcoin strategy in the U.S., with Superplanet operating as a Bitcoin treasury company.
The move marks an expansion beyond simply accumulating Bitcoin, as Metaplanet is developing Bitcoin-backed fixed-income products in Japan and plans to pursue opportunities in the U.S. through its new structure.
