Metaplanet, a Japanese Bitcoin treasury company, transferred 3,881 BTC (worth approximately $247.3 million) on August 12, 2026. This transfer has sparked speculation about a potential sale, but it appears the funds were moved to Metaplanet's cold wallet rather than an exchange.

Metaplanet currently holds unrealized losses of around $1.4 billion (34%) due to its average purchase price of $96,191 per BTC being far above the current market level.

In related news, Strategy, another major company in the Bitcoin treasury space, has sold 1,690 BTC for $108.6 million, resulting in a loss of over $102 million since the year began.
