Metaplanet Shares Plummet as Tokyo-Based Firm Proposes ¥27.8B Capital Cut
Metaplanet's shares fell by 3.86% on September 11, 2026, closing at ¥249 after the company proposed a ¥27.8B capital cut and the establishment of a Hong Kong unit.
The board of directors filed four resolutions, including a plan to reduce the firm's capital stock from ¥27.8 billion to ¥1, which would increase the distributable amount and facilitate future dividend payments, share buybacks, and other capital actions.
Metaplanet also announced the establishment of Metaplanet Asset Management Asia Limited, a wholly owned Hong Kong unit that will operate under 'Project Nova' and manage proprietary and client capital across multi-strategy books in Bitcoin and related assets.
