Metaplanet Shifts 3,881 BTC Amid Unfolding Market Dynamics
Japanese company Metaplanet has made a significant move in the Bitcoin market. Over three hours on Wednesday, the company transferred 3,881 BTC worth approximately $247 million from its cold wallets to new addresses it controls.
This transfer pattern is not unusual for Metaplanet, which moved nearly 5,000 BTC in March using the same method. In both cases, analysts have interpreted these transactions as internal custody reshuffling rather than a distribution of the company's Bitcoin holdings.
Metaplanet has been one of the most aggressive corporate buyers since April 2024, aiming to accumulate 210,000 BTC. However, with Bitcoin currently trading at $63,600, the company is sitting on an unrealized loss of approximately $1.4 billion, a decline of 34% from its average purchase price of around $96,000.
