Japanese Bitcoin treasury company Metaplanet has transferred a significant amount of $BTC to external wallets. According to on-chain data analytics platform Lookonchain, the company sent 3,881 Bitcoin in the last three hours, valued at approximately $247.3 million.
The transfer stands out as a notable action for Metaplanet's Bitcoin asset management strategy. The purpose of the transfers is unclear, with no official explanation from the company. It remains unknown whether the transactions were part of a sale or custody arrangement.
Metaplanet has been aggressively acquiring $BTC in recent times, solidifying its position as one of the world's leading institutional Bitcoin holders. According to Lookonchain data, the company's total Bitcoin holdings have reached 43,000 $BTC at an average cost of approximately $96,191 per coin.
The recent declines in Bitcoin prices have resulted in significant unrealized losses for Metaplanet. The company's loss is estimated at around $1.4 billion, representing a decline of approximately 34% compared to its total Bitcoin cost.
