Metaplanet Transfers Another Large Amount of Bitcoin to Coinbase Prime
Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has transferred another large amount of Bitcoin to Coinbase Prime. The company moved 2,400 Bitcoin worth approximately $186 million on August 31, bringing the total number of transfers in the past week to at least four.
The latest transfer is part of a series of transactions that have drawn market attention, particularly since the price of Bitcoin was below Metaplanet's average purchase price. The company had previously moved 1,000 Bitcoin on August 25 and an additional 1,350 Bitcoin on August 28.
Metaplanet CEO Simon Gerovich denied any intentions to sell the transferred Bitcoins, stating that the move was for 'simple custody management' and did not indicate a desire to liquidate. He also clarified that the company's holdings remain at 43,000 Bitcoin, despite some market speculation about potential selling.
The latest transfers have sparked interest in whether Metaplanet will actually sell its Bitcoins or if this is just a repositioning of assets. With the company being one of the world's largest corporate holders of Bitcoin, the market is closely watching for any signs of changes to their holdings.
