New York Mets legend David Wright has spoken out in support of former teammate Jacob deGrom, calling him 'on a historical level' during his time with the team.
The Braves had explored trading for deGrom before the Trade Deadline, but ultimately decided against it after he used his no-trade clause to block the deal.
Wright praised deGrom's ability to perform under pressure, saying 'if there was a game on the line and I could pick any teammate for a Game 7, give me Jacob deGrom every day.'
The proposed trade would have sent Spencer Strider to Texas in exchange for deGrom, but the deal fell through after deGrom exercised his no-trade clause.
