MEXC Abandons Netherlands, Points Users Towards Compliant Exchanges
MEXC's Dutch operations are set to shut down on October 23, 2026, following its failure to obtain the necessary Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) authorization under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation, MiCA. The exchange advised its Dutch users to withdraw their funds and migrate to a compliant platform by the deadline.
MEXC has recommended Bybit EU as an alternative for its Dutch client base, citing the exchange's MiCA compliance and ability to serve clients across the European Economic Area (EEA). Bybit EU secured its MiCA authorization from Austria's Financial Market Authority (FMA) in May 2025.
The move is a direct consequence of MiCA's national transition period, which concluded on July 1, 2026. Exchanges without proper CASP authorization are now effectively locked out of EU markets.
