MEXC Dominates Meme Coin Perpetual Futures Market with Wide Shelf and Low Fees
The world of meme coin perpetual futures is vast and complex, with multiple exchanges offering varying levels of coverage, fees, and leverage. According to a recent report by MEXC, the exchange lists an impressive 1,043 perpetual contracts, making it the widest menu on CoinGecko's tracker. This extensive shelf keeps growing at a rate of roughly 55 contracts per month, outpacing its competitors.
The coverage spread is enormous, with six in ten contracts on the widest menu not existing on the narrowest one. Meme perps live disproportionately in that long tail, making it essential for traders to have access to multiple exchanges. The taker-fee spread runs from 0.02% to 0.06%, with MEXC offering the lowest base cost at 0.02% taker.
Flagship memes such as TRUMP, FARTCOIN, PENGU, and MOODENG are widely available on major exchanges like Binance, Bybit, Bitget, and Gate. However, the clock for listing these contracts varies greatly, with some exchanges listing faster than others. MEXC's rapid listing pace has earned it a strong reputation among meme perp traders.
In terms of cost, MEXC offers a significant advantage over its competitors. A trader turning over $500K a month of meme perp notional, all taker, pays $1,200 a year on MEXC, compared to $3,000 or more on other major exchanges. This gap is due to MEXC's competitive base rates and lack of VIP tiers required for low-fee trading.
