MiCA Register Expands with 15 New Crypto Companies
Regulators in Europe have added 15 new crypto companies to the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework register, including a Belgian subsidiary of BNY Mellon. The update brings the total number of licensed crypto-asset service providers (CASPs) to 309.
The latest additions include four banking institutions: BNY SA/NV, Spar-und Kreditbank Rheinstetten, VR-Bank Augsburg-Ostallgäu, and Raiffeisenbank Falkenstein-Wörth. Other newly listed providers are digital asset platforms such as BitPay, Coinify, and Bleap.
Germany and Denmark led the latest additions with three new CASPs registered in each country, while Bulgaria and Latvia followed with two additions each. Belgium, Cyprus, Liechtenstein, and the Netherlands each added one provider.
The update comes as regulators continue building out the MiCA framework, which introduced unified rules for crypto service providers and aims to bring more oversight to the sector. Some industry executives warn that the cost of maintaining a MiCA license could push smaller firms out of the market.
