MiCA Register Reaches 309 as Custodians and Banks Enter
The European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) register has reached 309 entries, with 15 new additions from various countries. The update includes BNY SA/NV, a Belgian bank unit of the global financial services firm BNY Mellon, as well as several regional banks and payment companies.
The MiCA register is a database of all entities operating in the European Union that provide crypto-asset services. It's worth noting that being listed on this register does not necessarily mean a company can offer all types of crypto services.
BNY SA/NV, for example, is primarily involved in traditional banking activities such as custody and asset servicing for institutional clients. Its entry into the MiCA register indicates its plans to expand into digital-asset custody and tokenized finance.
