MiCA Regulation Shifts USDT Access in Europe, Global Demand Remains Strong
The introduction of MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets) regulation has led to changes in how Europe accesses USDT, but global demand for dollar stablecoins remains strong.
European platforms have accelerated restrictions on USDT after the EU's MiCA transition period ended on July 1 2026. Revolut is among the latest to announce a delisting of USDT for EEA users from August 2026 due to regulatory and risk concerns.
However, data from Artemis Analytics shows that there has been no noticeable shift in USDT supply or demand directly linked to MiCA. Instead, stablecoin adoption continues to expand in emerging markets where USDT is being used for payments, cross-border transfers, and access to dollar-denominated financial services.
The trend suggests that MiCA is changing how Europe accesses USDT rather than weakening global demand for dollar stablecoins. As the data shows, daily users on BNB Smart Chain rose by 388% from June 2024 to July 2026, while TRON daily users climbed 44% during the same period.
