The European Union's new digital asset regulation, MiCA, is expected to lead to more mergers and acquisitions in the cryptocurrency sector as companies face high costs under the new rules.

A report by CoinDesk notes that despite the challenges posed by MiCA, established financial institutions are now more open to embracing crypto amid greater regulatory certainty.

According to Steven Lightstone, a partner at Morgan Lewis' London office and co-leader of the company's global FinTech industry team, the Financial Conduct Authority's proposed framework for crypto in Great Britain is expected to institute standards similar to MiCA by linking crypto activities with Britain's existing financial services regulations.
