Michigan Data Center Shuts Down Bitcoin Mining for AI Infrastructure
Hyperscale Data has shut down Bitcoin mining operations at its Michigan data center, effective September 1. The move allows for the installation of AI infrastructure under a master services agreement with an unnamed California-based neocloud customer.
The company estimates that the contract will generate over $1.2 billion in revenue if the customer uses the full 20-year maximum term. The customer also has an option to add another 32 megawatts, which could increase total contract revenue to over $3 billion.
Hyperscale Data expects to retain about 340 megawatts of power capacity at the Michigan site, with only about 20% allocated for the expanded AI deployment. The company will sell the mining servers but has not disclosed a buyer or price.
