Microsoft Shakes Up Financial Reporting with Transparent Azure Revenue
Microsoft has announced a significant organizational transformation, adopting a new two-division structure and shifting its financial reporting framework to provide transparent Azure revenue data in dollar amounts.
The company will no longer use three segments: Productivity and Business Processes, Intelligent Cloud, and More Personal Computing. Instead, it will operate under Agents and Infra, which includes Azure, Microsoft 365 cloud offerings, productivity software, server licensing, and frontier AI services.
Azure's quarterly revenue for the June period reached $29.4 billion, representing a 42% growth year-over-year. This milestone positions Azure as accounting for roughly 30% of Microsoft's overall revenue stream.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella explained that artificial intelligence is driving this reorganization, stating, 'It is changing what we build and how we operate, and it is blurring the boundaries between our products.'
