Microstrategy Bolsters Liquidity with $1.59B Cash Pool as Bitcoin Surges
Microstrategy's (MSTR) stock price rose by 2.5% on Monday, after the company used proceeds from its recent $2 billion stock sale to strengthen its liquidity position.
The company sold approximately 18.26 million shares between August 17 and August 23, generating about $2 billion in proceeds.
Strategy allocated $136.4 million to repurchase its STRC preferred stock, brought the USD reserve to $5.1 billion by adding another $300 million, and placed the remaining $1.59 billion into a newly established liquidity account called USD Cash.
The move gives Strategy additional flexibility without immediately increasing its Bitcoin holdings.
Strategy's Bitcoin holdings remain unchanged at 840,447 BTC, acquired at an average price of $75,385 per Bitcoin, with a total cost of about $63.4 billion including fees and expenses.
The company's decision to hold its Bitcoin position steady comes after a period in which Strategy has adjusted its capital allocation approach.
