MicroStrategy Books $8.2B Loss on Bitcoin Markdown
MicroStrategy reported an $8.2 billion net loss in Q2 due to its massive Bitcoin holdings facing an $8.32 billion markdown.
The company, led by Michael Saylor, holds 843,775 BTC as of July 26, with a total value of around $54.8 billion at current prices.
This is compared to the $63.7 billion acquisition cost, resulting in an unrealized loss of over $8.3 billion.
To mitigate this, Strategy built a $3.75 billion cash reserve, which is enough to cover more than two years of preferred dividend payments and interest expenses.
