Microstrategy Parent Reports $8.2B Q2 Loss Amid Bitcoin Price Drop
Strategy Inc., the parent company of Michael Saylor's Microstrategy, reported an $8.22 billion net loss in the second quarter due to a decline in Bitcoin prices.
The company held approximately 843,775 BTC as of July 26, which represents a 25% increase from the beginning of the year.
Strategy's unrealized losses on its Bitcoin holdings reached $8.32 billion during the quarter, primarily driven by the cryptocurrency's price drop to around $58,600 at the end of June from $68,000 in April.
The company mitigated some of this loss through its BTC monetization program, which saw the sale of approximately $218.4 million worth of Bitcoin in early July.
