Microstrategy Readies Fresh Bitcoin Buys Amid Financing Risks
Strategy, the parent company of Microstrategy (MSTR), plans to resume buying Bitcoin in 2026. This decision comes despite four recent treasury sales that raised $213.3 million. The company currently holds 840,447 BTC after selling 3,328 coins during its two most recent reporting periods.
The sale reduced the dollar value of its holdings, but increased its cash reserve to $4.65 billion. This gives management more flexibility for preferred dividends and share repurchases. Strategy CEO Phong Le said the company expects to buy more coins despite the decline in Bitcoin's price, which is currently near $63,400.
The company sold a total of 5,000 BTC at an average price of $64,262 last week. The transactions raised about $108.6 million and reduced holdings to 840,447 BTC. Le noted that Strategy bought roughly 175,000 BTC during 2026, while selling around 7,000 coins.
