MicroStrategy Seeks Cheaper Capital in Push for Crypto Regulation
MicroStrategy, now known as Strategy, reported a staggering $8.22 billion net loss for its second quarter, marking a sharp reversal from last year's profit of $32.60 per share.
The company attributed the decline to an $8.32 billion write-down and emphasized that clearer digital asset regulations could improve institutional participation, ultimately benefiting its funding model.
Strategy backed the market structure bill just one day after releasing its earnings on July 30, arguing that a clearer jurisdictional split between securities-like tokens and digital commodities would make institutional investors more comfortable participating in the market.
The company has relied heavily on raising capital this year, securing $17.06 billion through at-the-market equity programs and another $7.53 billion from STRC preferred issuance, representing a 254% increase.
