MicroStrategy Sells $105M in Bitcoin Amid Shift Away from Accumulation Strategy
Michael Saylor's MicroStrategy sold a significant portion of its Bitcoin holdings in a recent transaction, sparking questions about the company's commitment to holding onto its cryptocurrency investments. Between July 27 and August 2, MicroStrategy disposed of 1,638 BTC for $104.73 million at an average price of $63,957.
This sale reduces the company's holdings to 842,138 BTC, acquired for a combined $123.51 billion at an average price of $75,419 per coin. The transaction has raised concerns that MicroStrategy may be shifting its strategy from a 'never sell' approach to one that prioritizes balance sheet management and fundraising.
The sale is part of three major 2026 transactions that have removed a total of 5,258 BTC from the company's holdings. These moves are seen as a departure from Saylor's earlier promises to accumulate Bitcoin indefinitely.
